Loes & Fabien

Some places seem built for photography. Domaine du Trusquin, in Pierrelatte, is one of them. A former château annex once occupied by a master carpenter — a "trusquin" is a woodworker's marking gauge — the estate gathers its old stone buildings around an enclosed courtyard, between exposed stonework, landscaped gardens and clipped olive trees. This is where Loes and Fabien said yes, on a bright midsummer day.

Getting ready

On the pale brick wall, one word in tall white letters set the tone: « amour ». In that soft light, Loes got ready surrounded by her closest — the last touches to her hair, a white flower slipped into her curls, and that mix of contained emotion and anticipation I love to photograph.

The glasshouse

It is the signature of the place: a great glazed façade that catches every ray of light and returns it soft, mirroring the tiled roofs and olive trees of the estate. In front of it, Fabien's sage-green suit, Loes's lace, a bouquet of dried flowers — and a backlit kiss straight out of a dream.

The spiral staircase

A few steps up, the spiral staircase offers one of my favourite angles of the estate: a graphic top-down frame, the dress spread over old patterned cement tiles, Loes looking up at the lens, Fabien close against her, daylight pouring down from the glass roof above.

Lavender in the Drôme Provençale

And because you do not get married in the Drôme Provençale at the height of summer without touching the lavender, we ended among the blooming rows, a hilltop village on the horizon. Loes leading Fabien by the hand between the purple lines: the image that sums up this corner of Provence better than any words.
