Wedding Photographer in Uzès

France's first duchy — golden stone, estates and olive groves, minutes from the Pont du Gard.

Wedding photographer in Uzès: a reportage, not a staged shoot

I photograph weddings as a reportage: I follow the day as it unfolds, without staging it. The glances during the preparations, the emotion of a humanist ceremony, the laughter around the table — it is the moments nobody replays that make the images you keep.

Uzès is one of the finest wedding settings in the Gard. France's first duchy has kept its streets intact, its hôtels particuliers and its golden stone — the arcaded Place aux Herbes, the Duché, Saint-Théodorit cathedral and its Fenestrelle Tower, the medieval gardens. A French Tuscan elegance, warm and sunlit.

All around, the Uzège countryside lines up wine estates and stone mas: Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, Arpaillargues, Montaren, Saint-Siffret, as far as Vers-Pont-du-Gard. Garrigue, olive trees, plane trees — venues made for outdoor ceremonies and long, gentle evenings.

My studio is in Ruoms, in the Ardèche, about 1h05 from Uzès. The Gard is part of my usual coverage area — including an escape to the Pont du Gard, twenty minutes away, when the timeline allows it. If you are planning your wedding in France from abroad, everything happens in English, from the first call to the delivery of your gallery.

Where to get married around Uzès: châteaux, mas and estates

A bearing on the main reception venues in the area, checked with each of them. If yours is not listed, tell me — this list does not claim to be exhaustive.

Les Truffières d'Uzès

Uzès

A reception hall set in the middle of a family truffle grove, on the road to Alès. One of the very few wedding venues within the commune of Uzès itself, with the option of adding a marquee outdoors.

Château d'Arpaillargues

Arpaillargues-et-Aureillac

An 18th-century residence just west of Uzès, available for exclusive hire with its lounges, grounds and swimming pool. The estate publishes a detailed wedding brochure.

Château de Fontarèches

Fontarèches

A 12th-century castle north-east of Uzès, surrounded by vines and olive trees, with a chapel and landscaped grounds. Available for exclusive hire, accommodation included.

Mas de Rey

Arpaillargues-et-Aureillac

A three-hectare Provençal mas, stone walls and vaulted rooms, with a reception marquee facing the façade, between the river, the gardens and century-old trees.

La Pousterle de Sabran

Sabran

A hamlet of guesthouses available for exclusive hire, perched above the Cèze valley with views over the vineyards and the forest. Between Uzès and Avignon.

Château de l'Olivète

Cornillon

An early 19th-century Provençal bastide in the heart of the Cèze valley vineyards. A dovecote terrace for a humanist ceremony, and an esplanade under the plane trees for the meal.

Before the wedding day

I come and scout your venue before the day

A venue is not something to discover on the morning of the wedding. Before every reportage I come on site: I look at where the light falls at the hour of your ceremony, I find the spots for the couple session, I anticipate the late-day backlight and the fallback options if it rains.

Uzès is 1h05 from my studio in Ruoms. This scouting visit is part of the travel and is not charged separately — whether your reception is in a mas in the Uzège countryside, a château nearby or a venue in town.

If you have not chosen your venue yet, tell me: I will look at what the area offers with you, from the point of view of light and photographs.

In the groom's words

Ellie & Alex, at the Clos d'Hullias

We would not only recommend Yann to anyone in the Ardèche area, but to anyone in France! Yann did photography for my wedding back in 2022. Being a English couple who spoke little to no French, it was a very nervous time when it came to finding a photographer to capture our special day. Luckily enough, we discovered Yann. Who helped make the day perfect, and has allowed us to relive the moment every day since. Then most recently, we revisited the area with our daughter who just turned one. And Yann helped us in doing a family shoot. Yann was very patient with her, and even though she wasn't the best model, he managed to get some excellent photos. Thanks again Yann for everything you've done for us!

What couples say

We hired Yann for our Wedding in the South in June 2026 - and could not have wished for better ! He was with us for 2 days, in 2 separate locations, and worked amazingly with us, our families and other vendors around the wedding. His approach was friendly, reactive, and made both my wife and myself very quickly feel at ease . We are not used to photography and were a bit camera shy, but Yann knew just how to make us shine and guide us through poses, views and emotions. A few weeks later, our pictures are amazing ! Thank you Yann for everything. Your time, flexibility, understanding and passion were greatly appreciated! Highly recommended if you are getting married in the south !

A big thank you to Yann for the great service. It was a real pleasure having him at our wedding. We wanted something intimate that wouldn't disturb the natural and peace of the wedding and missions accomplished ! We are very very excited to see the pictures but the first sample we saw was already amazing. We also appreciate his availability as the wedding was for two days and had to switch slightly hours at the last minute but recommend highly !

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you travel to Uzès?

Yes, regularly. My studio is in Ruoms, in the Ardèche, about 1h05 from Uzès, and the Gard is part of my usual coverage area. Travel is included, and I come and scout your venue before the wedding rather than discovering it on the morning itself.

Do you speak English?

Yes. A good share of the couples I work with are English-speaking, and several have left their reviews in English. Planning calls, the timeline of the day and everything on the wedding day itself happen in English without any difficulty — which matters when you are organising a wedding in France from abroad.

Which wedding venues do you photograph around Uzès?

Uzès and the surrounding countryside are full of wine estates and stone mas that host weddings: around Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, Arpaillargues, Montaren, Saint-Siffret, and as far as Vers-Pont-du-Gard and Pouzilhac. Most offer garrigue, olive trees and golden stone, ideal for an outdoor humanist ceremony. You will find a guide to the main venues further down this page.

Why get married in Uzès?

France's first duchy, Uzès is a golden-stone town with its narrow streets intact: the arcaded Place aux Herbes, the Duché, Saint-Théodorit cathedral and the Fenestrelle Tower, the medieval gardens. A French Tuscan atmosphere, both elegant and warm, offering some of the most photogenic couple-session settings in the Gard.

Can we do a couple session at the Pont du Gard?

Yes. The Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is about twenty minutes from Uzès and offers a monumental Roman backdrop, at its best late in the day. It is a possible escape depending on your timeline and the package you choose.

Do you offer a session before the wedding?

Yes. Many couples book a session in the streets of Uzès a few weeks before the day. It is an hour for the two of you to get used to the camera, relax in front of it, and come away with images well before the preparations begin.

How long until we receive our photos?

Within 6 weeks you receive your full reportage in high resolution through a private online gallery. A few teasers are sent in the days following the wedding.
